Easily get the Develop Tab if you have Classic Menu for Office. Most of time the Developer Tab is hidden, and we can’t find out it in the Ribbon quickly. Please do not worry about! The Reference Tools tab within the Toolbox is divided into five sections, as shown in Figure 1. You can expandor collapse each section by clicking the disclosure triangles to the left of the section labels. These sections are:
- Thesaurus
- Dictionary
- Bilingual Dictionary
- Translation
- Web Search

Using Reference Tools
Follow these steps to use the Reference Tools of Toolbox in PowerPoint 2011:
- Select the Reference Tools tab (3rd tab) of the Toolbox. Type a word or phrase into the search field located just below thearray of tabs (highlighted in red in Figure 1 above) and press the Return key on yourkeyboard.
- To see the results, click on any of the individual reference tools sections to expand it.Note: Some of the sections access information that's continuously updated and require a live internet connection to get results.These include the Bilingual Dictionary, Translation, and Web Search.
- Alternatively, you can select a word or phrase in your presentation slide, and right click to bring up the contextual menu shown inFigure 2.
Figure 2: Contextual menu bought up by right clicking a word- From the resultant menu, choose any reference option such as Look Up or Translate (highlighted inred in Figure 2, above). The Look Up option has a submenu with more options to choosefrom (see Figure 3).
Figure 3: Look Up option submenu- Choose any of the options from the menu or submenu, and the results can be seen within the Reference Tools tab of theToolbox by clicking the disclosure triangles to expand the desired reference tools section, as shown in Figure 4.
Figure 4: Results shown for selected word- In some cases, you can then click the Insert button (highlighted in red inFigure 4) to insert the results at the cursor position, or to replace the selected word on your slide.
Normally when you start PowerPoint you can create a new blank presentation or start a presentation based on one of the included templates. But what if you want PowerPoint to base all new presentations on your own template?
You can, and it's easy. You just need to open your template or a presentation based on it, save it in the correct location and give it the right name. The exact locations and names are a different for each version of PowerPoint, so choose the version you use:
